Hot in the city on the streets with a mexican summer beaming in full glow melting everything including the will to live. With at this point 3 weeks of gorgeous weather (the novelty could well be wearing off) but in a venue in Stoke Newington we have air con, sweet sweet air-con and tonight’s line up features “Tenebrous Liar” headlining whom are touring their new album “Viva”, with “Richard Warren” also on support with his sweet tones of the vintage guitar and dulcet tones of his voice to woo the crowd, the other support band on the bill is “Drift”.
Drift are a north London based experimental garage rock post punk quartet with a full line up featuring front woman Natalie the multi talented singer, bassist and synths/programming – tonight only focussing on vocals, Max on guitar, Finn on drums and Lucy on keys
The band perform some of their crowd favourites with a wonderful performance of Red Lights stealing the show but they also showcase a new chapter for the project featuring several songs from their forthcoming new album “Violence for your Furs” as well as a few new songs that will not feature on the album which are “Bones” and “Moonlit road…”, with a darkness and mood that takes hold of the show the talking fades and everone watching the stage is transfixed as time slows down listening to an array of earthy electronica sounds wrapped around guitars and drums and Natalie delivering her lines effortlessly for the songs in a masterful performance with an occasional cheeky smile and throughout the set there moments of laughter and joy with some interactions between everyone in the room, the set being introduced by a glamourous friend of the band, A fantastic night if you were there.
